Jacqueline Loss es profesora de estudios literarios y culturales latinoamericanos en la Universidad de Connecticut. Es autora de Dreaming in Russian: The Cuban Soviet Imaginary (2013) y Cosmopolitanisms and Latin America: Against the Destiny of Place (2005) y ha co-compilado Caviar with Rum: Cuba-USSR and the Post-Soviet Experience (con José Manuel Prieto, 2012) y New Short Fiction from Cuba (con Esther Whitfield, 2007). También ha traducido al inglés la obra de varios escritores cubanos. Actualmente, además de trabajar en el proyecto Finotype, está realizando una traducción colaborativa digital de “Indagación del choteo” por Jorge Mañach y dirigiendo la sección de traducción de Cuba Counterpoints.
Jacqueline Loss is professor of Latin American and Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Connecticut. She is the author of Dreaming in Russian: The Cuban Soviet Imaginary (2013) and Cosmopolitanisms and Latin America: Against the Destiny of Place (2005) and has co-edited Caviar with Rum: Cuba-USSR and the Post-Soviet Experience (with José Manuel Prieto, 2012) and New Short Fiction from Cuba (with Esther Whitfield, 2007). She has translated numerous Cuban writers into English. In addition to this Finotype project, she is working on a collaborative digital translation of “Indagación del choteo” by Jorge Mañach and editing the translation section of Cuba Counterpoints.

Juan Carlos Alom nació en Cuba en 1964. Es un cineasta y fotógrafo cuya obra ha sido exhibida en Cuba, los Estados Unidos, Canadá, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, Alemania, Francia, España, Portugal, Italia y Sudáfrica. Su visión artística se basa en la precariedad, espontaneidad y la necesidad de enfocarse en diferentes temas, tales como la religión afrocubana, la juventud y la longitud. Su filme experimental Habana Solo (2000) se ha convertido rápidamente en un “cult classic”. Entre otras películas, ha dirigido Sombras espesas (1997), Una Harley recorre la Habana (1997), El método moderno (1998), Evidencia (2001), Iroko (2002), Lo más alto que tú vuelas (2002), Diario (2007) y No Limits (2013).
Alom was born in Cuba in 1964. He is a filmmaker and photographer who has exhibited throughout Cuba, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and South Africa. His artistic vision is driven by precariousness, spontaneity, and the necessity to focus on distinct themes such as Afro-Cuban religion, youth, and longitude. His experimental film Habana Solo (2000) has quickly become a cult classic. Among the films he has directed are Sombras espesas (1997), Una Harley recorre la Habana (1997), El método moderno (1998), Evidencia (2001), Iroko (2002), Lo más alto que tú vuelas (2002), Diario (2007), and No Limits (2013).

Ernesto René Rodríguez. La Habana, Cuba (1967). Realizador audiovisual, escritor y pintor. Graduado del taller de serigrafía Rene Portocarrero y del Centro de Formación Literaria Onelio Jorge Cardoso, donde además se desempeñó como especialista en el departamento audiovisual. Fotógrafo y editor de los paneles de debate Último Jueves de la Revista Temas (ICAIC, Cuba). Co-fundador del taller de realización audiovisual Kinocuba. Colaborador independiente en talleres audiovisuales en Canadá y México. Sus cuentos han sido publicados en antologías y revistas en Cuba y en el extranjero, incluyendo New Short Fiction from Cuba y Words without Borders. Ha dirigido vídeos musicales para la banda de punk rock Porno para Ricardo, la cantante Milada Milhet y el trovador Yordi Toledo entre otros. Actualmente es realizador freelance en Estados Unidos.
Ernesto René Rodríguez. Havana, Cuba (1967) Filmmaker, writer and painter. Graduate of René Portocarrero Serigraphy Workshop and the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Center for Creative Writing. After graduating from the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Center he worked as a specialist in its audiovisual department. Photographer and audiovisual editor for the Último Jueves Debates for the Temas journal (ICAIC, Cuba). Co-founder of the Kinocuba cinematographic workshop. Independent collaborator on audiovisual workshops in Canada and Mexico. His stories have been published in anthologies and magazines in Cuba and abroad, including New Short Fiction from Cuba and Words without Borders. He has directed musical videos for the punk band Porno para Ricardo, the singer Milada Milhet and the trovador Yordi Toledo, among others. He is currently working as a freelance filmmaker in the United States.
